Soumen Ghosh

Soumen Ghosh is a Kolkata-based Concept Artist, Mass Art Director, Fashion Educator, and Industry Expert with over 27 years of experience in both academics and the creative industry. His professional journey spans design development projects such as TANTUJA (Govt. of West Bengal), Kolkata Metro Railway beautification, Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority, and Howrah Municipality Corporation initiatives. He has also led skill development projects for poor artisans under KHADI INDIA. Renowned for his artistic innovation during the Durga Puja festivals of Kolkata, Soumen conceptualized award-winning themes like “KHELA HOBE” for Bhowanipur Durgotsav Samiti and “RAJAR RAJA” based on Satyajit Ray’s creative vision. His installations are widely recognized as research-based art compositions merging sustainability, tradition, and visual storytelling. As a Visiting Professor in leading institutions including the University of Kolkata and VisvaBharati, Santiniketan, he has mentored numerous students and guided creative sequences at Times Fashion Week Kolkata. Soumen has authored several articles on the Art, Craft, and Artisans of West Bengal, with major contributions published in “Traditional Crafts of India” by Shilpa Sadana – VisvaBharati Santiniketan.
